Jake carries the freeze brand given to BLM mustangs down the left side of his neck. The one trait that stands out about Jake is how safe you feel riding him. He has an honest, easygoing nature and is a willing partner on the trail or in an arena. In my professional opinion, Jake is the perfect fit for a first-time owner or anyone wanting a nice, well-behaved gelding. He has a lot of go in him, but he is safe.
Jake's walk is smooth, covering the ground. He can go from a gallop to a walk without notice. He crosses water and travels up and down steep hills, easily negotiating terrain. He is careful and accurate with foot placement.
There are a lot of rabbits around these parts, and they just sit still... till you're next to them. Then they take off!! I am often startled but Jake never is!
Jake has had many adventures, ranging from antler hunting to campouts. He has led a pack string deep into the wilderness. He has been in the San Juan mountains with hikers, motorcycles, ATVs, and bicycles, all of us sharing the trail. Jake travels alone or with a group. Jake will travel where you want to in a group. He will lead or just follow along behind. He is extremely sensible; he is just a stable guy. He can have time off and be ridden off with no funny business.
Jake also was my horse that I used in my clinic for the EQUUS Film Festival in Aztec, NM. He was a crowd favorite. There is nobody in attendance that would say that he was anything but a brave, and courteous, well-mannered gentleman!
When in the arena, Jake knows his leads. He can turn on the forehand, hindquarters, and leg yield. He can do shoulder in at a walk. Jake slides through transitions with ease. He is just awesome fun!!
He stands for a farrier and loves grooming; you can clip and bathe him. He stands quietly when tied and is easy to tack up. He accepts the bit and bridles with no issues. Jake has impeccable ground manners.
He rides double and bareback.
Jake willingly loads in a straight load stock, slant, or even ahorse trailer that has ramps. Jake has been hauled A LOT!
Jake stands quietly tied on the high-line trailer or at a tree for a lunch break. He does not feed off of other horses' energy. He is just a solid citizen.
In a herd Jake doesn't cause trouble and is respected by his herd mates. He's very compatible.
Jake is an easy keeper.
Jake is easy to catch.
Jake has NO VICES!
Jake is very special. He is proven and my go to horse. He is easy and always makes me look good.
You will not regret taking Jake the Gentleman home with you.
